Chrysalis – Maternity & Newborn Photography
Is there anything so anticipated as the arrival of your new bundle of joy? As your child gets older, he or she will love to hear the story about how they came to be, and these images will be treasured not only by you, but by your child, and his or her children. We’re here to help you begin a photographic legacy for your child.
OVERVIEW
Chrsyalis is our specialty line of pregnancy and baby photography. We help you create a legacy for your baby, with a “belly to baby” story of their own.
Our maternity and newborn photography package is perfect for any expecting mother, whether she is a first time mom, or if this is her last baby.
BEFORE
Please feel free to schedule a complimentary consultation with us to discuss your maternity portrait and newborn photography session.
We recommend you schedule your maternity portraits around 34-36 weeks. At that time, your “bump” should be nice and round (even when lying down), and it’s soon enough in case baby decides to make an early appearance.
The morning of your maternity session, try not to wear any restrictive clothing that can leave lines/marks on your skin. For more information on clothing, please refer to our FAQs.
We laughingly say that we’ll meet you at the door when you return home from the hospital. But we do plan to see you within the first week. Babies 7 days or less tend to sleep more soundly, and stay all cute and “squishy”, and the session goes more smoothly. Older babies are more alert, and can get more irritated during the session, which can stress mom and dad out, and prolong the session. We understand you will be tired, but the effort of coming in early will be well-rewarded with amazing newborn photographs you will cherish for years to come.
We have a wide variety of backgrounds, blankets, hats, and props for your adorable little newborn, but you are more than welcome to bring any special item(s) that you would like included in your new born baby portraits (e.g. hat, hand-made blanket, special stuffed animal, special rattle, etc.)
DURING
Your maternity session can be in-studio, in your home, or on location, and may include your significant other, or a sibling. We have various draped fabrics you may use, in addition to your own clothes. On-location sessions can be fun as well, and typically feature you in your every-day clothes.
During your newborn baby portrait session, we will focus on the baby alone, as well as mom and baby, and dad and baby. If there is a sibling, we will work with the sibling first, and then allow them to leave with a friend or family member, so that they don’t become bored and restless.
Newborn sessions are not rushed and may last up to 2 hours, as we allow time for feeding and diaper changes. Please be aware we do keep the studio warm so your baby is cozy and comfortable.
AFTER
About a week or two after your newborn session, you will come back to the studio to review , select, and order your images. It is important to have all decision makers present at this ordering session. Because we are reviewing and ordering both maternity and newborn portraits, this process can take up to 2 hours. PRICING
$395 includes BOTH the maternity and newborn sessions, in studio. A minimum purchase may apply to go on-location.
